Kentucky Wildcats WBB Ready for March Madness: First-Round and Seeding Announced

With their tournament seeding set at No. 4, the Wildcats are poised for a deep run. The foundation has been laid, and now, it’s time to take the next step. The stage is set, and Kentucky is ready to dance.

The first year of the Kenny Brooks era has exceeded expectations, turning Kentucky Women’s Basketball into an immediate contender. In just one season, Brooks has revitalized the program, guiding the Wildcats to a 22-6 overall record and an 11-5 mark in SEC play—the most regular-season wins since 2019-2020.

Kentucky’s resume speaks for itself. Signature wins over No. 18 Louisville and No. 15 Tennessee cemented the Wildcats as a force to be reckoned with. Brooks also assembled a nationally recognized roster, headlined by SEC Newcomer of the Year and first-team All-SEC selection Georgia Amoore. The Nancy Lieberman Award finalist is widely projected as a first-round pick in the upcoming WNBA Draft and has been the heartbeat of Kentucky’s offense all season.

Despite their success, the Wildcats enter the NCAA Tournament with something to prove after a frustrating SEC Tournament quarterfinal exit against Oklahoma. The loss left lingering doubts, but if there’s one thing Brooks knows, it’s how to win in March.

Brooks brings a wealth of postseason experience, having led James Madison to six NCAA Tournament appearances and, later, Virginia Tech to four straight. His crowning achievement came just two years ago when he guided the Hokies to their first-ever ACC Championship and a historic Final Four run.

Amoore, who starred under Brooks at Virginia Tech, is also no stranger to the madness of March. She set an NCAA Tournament record with 23 made three-pointers in a single tournament and put up 29 points in Tech’s Elite Eight win over Tennessee. Now, she and Brooks look to make history again—this time, in Kentucky blue.
