Michigan Junior Will Tschetter Breaks Down Crying After Wolverines’ Big Ten Tournament Win
Michigan basketball won its fourth ever Big Ten Tournament on Sunday in Indianapolis, their fourth win in four locations, putting an exclamation point on one of the better seasons in recent program history.
The Wolverines last won a Big Ten title in 2021 under coach Juwan Howard, who came to Michigan that same season and quickly became a favorite of the former Wolverines head coach.
Howard predicted that Tschetter would some day play a key role on a memorable Wolverines title winning team, and that prediction came true on Sunday as Tschetter’s gritty performance helped lead Michigan to a 59-53 win over the Wisconsin Badgers.
On Monday, video surfaced of the Wolverines junior forward/center overcome with emotion after the game, breaking down in tears as he hugged supporters courtside in Indianapolis after the Wolverines and coach Dusty May’s big victory for the tournament title.
Tschetter’s father Garth posted a picture of his son after his team’s big win in the Big Ten.
Michigan will next take on UC San Diego in the first round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament at 10 p.m. ET on Thursday in Denver, Colorado, with the winner expected to take on the winner of the game between the Texas A&M Aggies and Yale Bulldogs in the south region.
Tschetter, a native of Stewartville, Minnesota, figures to play a key role in the first round and beyond, especially with fellow backup players Sam Walters and Justin Pippen still working their way back from injuries.
