In a recent edition of Sportsnet’s 590 the Fan, the three hosts weighed in what they believe the outcome with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. future with the Toronto Blue Jays will be and by he looks of it, it will not be good.
Per David P. Sampson, Ailish Forfar and Justin Cuthbert state that they have heard inklings that the team does not plan on resigning the first baseman slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Sampson stated he has a conversation with Blue Jays president and CEO Mark Shapiro on what their plans are with Vladdy, and from what he gathered, he does not see him in a Blue Jays uniform next season.
“I do believe that they know what they’re doing with Vladimir, and by what he said – to me – that would indicate that he does not see a signing happening.”
If this is the case and the report by Sampson is true, this will be one of the biggest mistakes/fumbles in Blue Jays history. With the terrible season they just concluded, the only real bright spot was Vladdy himself who put up MVP like numbers for 3/4 of the year.
Even with his slow start, Vlad hit a slash line of .288/.363/.508 with an elite OPS of .863. In 616 at bats, he was one hit short of achieving his first 200 hits with 199, he hit 30 long balls, scored 98 runs and drove in 103 RBI’s.
Do you think the Blue Jays are going to resign Vladimir Guerrero Jr. or is Ross Atkins and Mark Shapiro going to ruin the team even further?
