Everyone in Toronto is aware of the massive winter the Blue Jays have coming up as they currently only have 6 players under contract for the 2025 season.
The Blue Jays were big time traders at this year’s trade deadline as they were looking to bring in young prospects which is why they have so many young players on their current roster.
Heading into the 2025 season, the Blue Jays only have six players under contract which includes Bo Bichette, Chris Bassitt, George Springer, Kevin Gausman, Jose Berrios and Chad Green.
That group consists of one reliever (Chad Green), three starting pitchers (Kevin Gausman, Chris Bassitt, Jose Berrios), one outfielder (George Springer), and one infielder (Bo Bichette).
From highest to lowest, here’s how the team’s base salaries line up for next season:
Springer: $24,166,666
Gausman: $23,000,000
Bassitt: $22,000,000
Berrios: $18,000,000
Bichette: $16,500,000
Green: $10,500,000
Even though the Blue Jays currently have many player unsigned as they are arbitration eligible, the majority of them will not enter free agency as they will end up coming to an agreement with the Blue Jays.
Of course, this isn’t much cause for concern: many of their key pieces, including superstar slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr., are either arbitration-eligible or in the pre-arbitration phase of their careers. In other words, just because the players aren’t signed today doesn’t mean they’re hitting free agency or the trade market. -Laskaris
While this is not a huge concern since the Blue Jays do not have a ton of players signed, this also will give them the chance to really pick who they want to bring back next season.
