Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson is recovering after spending two nights in hospital following a freak accident.
Robinson and his wife Sandra were away in the Hunter Valley when they were cooking a BBQ and a gas bottle exploded.
The pair were airlifted to hospital but have since returned home.
“Trent Robinson and his wife Sandra were at the property of John Quayle at the Hunter Valley and cooking dinner on Monday night when a BBQ gas bottle exploded,” senior reporter Danny Weidler told 9News Sydney.
“Trent and his wife were injured and burns to their arms and were doused in cold water immediately. Ambulances and a rescue helicopter were sent to the property and the critical care medical team airlifted them to hospital.
“Trent’s wife was kept there for a night and Trent was kept there for a couple of nights because when there are gas injuries, monitoring of the lungs needs to be taken care of.
“Fortunately, Trent Robinson is back home recovering with his wife Sandra.”
At this stage, the Roosters have not commented on the matter.
Robinson has been in charge of the first grade side at Bondi since 2013, taking the foundation club to three premierships.
