The Toronto Blue Jays announce that they have two players that have been named as Gold Glove finalist, Daulton Varsho and Ernie Clement have both been named.
Varsho has been a dominant outfielder for quite some time now yet seems to get snubbed out of a Gold Glove every year. Finally this season he seemed to have taken his fate into his own hands as he was undeniable defensively with fielding .995 with 204 putouts in 672 innings.
Varsho, 28, had an eye-popping year in the outfield, recording highlight-reel catches seemingly every week. In 672 innings at centre in 2024, Varsho fielded .995 with 204 putouts. – Sportsnet
Clement had an incredible season this year as he was a consistent bat for the Blue Jays while also finally finding a consistent spot in the lineup as his defensive play at third base was top notch with a fielding average of .954 with 60 putouts in 661 innings.
In just a short time with the team, Clement has proven himself more than worthy of a roster spot. In addition to becoming one of the most consistent bats for the Blue Jays, he’s played a dependable defensive game as well. With 661 innings at the hot corner under his belt, the 28-year-old had a fielding average .954 with 60 putouts. -Sportsnet
