Former Michigan QB Drawing Interest From AAC Program In Transfer Portal

The college football transfer portal is still churning quickly despite the calendar turning to 2025.

One big player available is quarterback Alex Orji, who recently played at Michigan and then decided to enter the transfer portal after the season.

Davis Warren was named the QB1 for Michigan in 2024, but Orji ended up starting three games, including wins over USC and Minnesota, before he was relegated back to a reserve role.

Orji ended the year with just 148 passing yards, three touchdowns and an interception. He was used a lot as a runner even after losing the starting job and ended up with 260 yards and a touchdown in the rushing game.

Now, Orji is set to visit Temple, per a report from Chris Hummer of 247Sports.

Orji made a brief appearance in the ReliaQuest Bowl against Alabama, going 2-of-3 with an interception through the air and rushing four times for nine yards in the win.

Temple is in the midst of a massive rebuild after the Owls fired head coach Stan Drayton in November.

Former Sam Houston head coach K.C. Keeler was hired as Drayton’s replacement shortly after, and a pair of Montana State assistants joined the staff following the FCS title game on Monday night.

Now, the Owls are bringing in Orji for a visit in hopes of improving the QB position and adding some talent to the roster after a 3-9 season. Orji was a three-star prospect, per 247Sports.

He originally committed to Virginia Tech in 2021 before flipping to Michigan, and he also had offers from programs including Nebraska and Arkansas.

Evan Simon was the QB at Temple this past season, and the former Rutgers QB threw for 2,032 yards with 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
