Top Mets prospects Jett Williams and Drew Gilbert hit home runs Thursday in the Scottsdale Scorpions’ 10-1 Arizona Fall League win over the Glendale Desert Dogs.
Williams, batting second and starting in center field, posted a 2-for-5 line that included a homer and RBI double. Gilbert, the sixth-hitting right fielder, added a 1-for-4 performance that included a homer and two runs.
After an 0-for-2 start, Williams’ RBI double up the middle with two outs in the fourth inning scored Eddinson Paulino from second base and gave the Scorpions the go-ahead lead at 2-1.
Williams added a solo shot to left-center field with one out in the sixth inning to extend the Scorpions’ 4-1 lead — they scored their third run on a fifth-inning RBI single that scored Gilbert, who was hit by a pitch.
With one out in the seventh inning, Gilbert’s own solo shot padded the Scorpions’ 5-1 lead.
Williams also worked a leadoff walk in the eighth inning.
SNY’s Joe DeMayo ranks Williams and Gilbert among the Mets’ top three prospects, with right-hander Christian Scott rounding out the group at No. 2.
Williams mostly spent his 2024 season at Double-A Binghamton, where he slashed .172/.287/.241 with three RBI in 22 games before a Sept. 17 promotion to Triple-A Syracuse.
Gilbert, meanwhile, slashed .215/.313/.393 with 10 home runs and 32 RBI in 56 games for Triple-A Syracuse — where he spent all but six of his 62 appearances — this past year.
