NFL QB Legend Eli Manning Made His MVP Pick Perfectly Clear
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is currently the odds-on favorite to win MVP this season. After leading his team to a 13-4 record, which includes wins against the top two teams in the Kansas City Chiefs and Detroit Lions, Allen has truly made a strong case for the award.
If you ask New York Giants icon Eli Manning, though, he has a different player in mind for the highest individual honor in the sport.
In an interview with RG.org, Manning revealed that he would go with Baltimore Ravens superstar Lamar Jackson for NFL MVP. Jackson has the second-best odds (+185) to win after finishing the season with 4,172 passing yards and 41 touchdowns along with 915 rushing yards and four TDs on the ground.
“Lamar Jackson, especially his last five weeks, how he’s played, 41 touchdowns, four interceptions, pretty impressive what he’s done and I know he’s won them before – but that shouldn’t hurt you,” Manning explained.
“If you have the best season, if you’ve played the best, he should win MVP. I think it should probably go to Lamar.”
Eli Manning’s Lamar Jackson pick isn’t crazy, that’s for sure. The Ravens not only finished with a 12-5 record, but they also made plenty of history with the two-time MVP leading the way.
Jackson became the first NFL QB ever to have at least 4,000 passing yards and 800 rushing yards in a single season. He’s also the first Ravens player to breach 5,000 total yards in a campaign. With his help, Baltimore surpassed the 4,000-yard passing and 3,000-yard rushing marks, the first team to do so in league history.
It remains to be seen if Jackson will be able to win the award, but regardless of the result, there’s no denying that he’s the best player in Manning’s eyes.
