The MLB just announced that Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho has finally been award a Gold Glove award for his incredible defensive play in 2024.
Varsho struggled at the plate for the Blue Jays in 2024 as did many players but in the field, Varsho was arguably the best defensive outfielder in the MLB posting incredible numbers accompanied by incredible plays.
Toronto Blue Jays Daulton Varsho has won the Gold Glove Award
The Blue Jays outfielder was named as a finalist for the Gold Glove in October and tonight the MLB named Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho a Gold Gove winner for the first time in his career after being cheated out of the award the past few seasons.
The #BlueJays’ pitchers and coaching staff campaigned all season for it:
Daulton Varsho wins the AL Gold Glove Award in centre field.
This is Varsho’s first career Gold Glove Award and well deserved.
Despite the award being only for the best centerfielder in the American League, Varsho was clearly one of if not the best defensive outfielder in baseball this season which is why he was a clear Glove Glove winner.
If Varsho is able to work on his hitting this off-season, he can truly turn into one of the best outfielders in baseball as his defensive game cannot get much better than the level it is currently at.
The Blue Jays want to return to being a top team in the American League and having Varsho at the top of his defensive game plus being a consistent hitter can truly help the team achieve that.
Onee thing is for certain, Blue Jays fans are happy to see Varsho finally get what he deserves.
