Penn State Dealt Unfortunate Transfer Portal News After Orange Bowl Loss

The Penn State Nittany Lions suffered an Orange Bowl loss to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Thursday night, falling just short of the program’s national championship goals in the College Football Playoff semifinals.

James Franklin and the Nittany Lions now turn their attention toward the 2025 college football season, which will feature some notable roster changes.

On Sunday afternoon, reports confirmed that cornerback Cam Miller will depart through the 2025 NCAA transfer portal this offseason. The junior defensive back has already been removed from the Nittany Lions’ roster on the team’s official website.

Miller was a key contributor for the Penn State secondary in 2024, finishing his junior season with 27 tackles, four tackles for loss, 1.0 sacks and five passes defended.

Miller played 319 snaps this past season, trailing only Jalen Kimber and A.J. Harris among Penn State cornerbacks. On Sunday, Kimber announced his decision to enter the 2025 NFL Draft. Harris, a true sophomore, is scheduled to return as the Nittany Lions’ top cornerback in 2025.

While Miller is on the way out, Penn State landed a key transfer portal addition for its secondary earlier on Sunday. King Mack, who played one season at safety for the Alabama Crimson Tide this past season, is returning to Happy Valley to finish what he started with the Nittany Lions as a four-star recruit in 2023.
