Nick Saban Shares Bold Opinion on Jayden Daniels After Playoff Win

Rookie sensation Jayden Daniels is coming off a thrilling victory, leading his team to a stunning upset over the No. 1 seed Detroit Lions, despite entering the game as 8 1/2-point underdogs, according to DraftKings Sportsbook.

Daniels has continued to defy all expectations in his rookie season. While he’s the clear favorite for Offensive Rookie of the Year, he’s elevated his game in the postseason, finishing Saturday night’s win with 299 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, 51 rushing yards, and zero turnovers.

Now, the Commanders are headed to the NFC championship, and ahead of their matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles, former Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban—who faced off against Daniels during his time with the LSU Tigers—unveiled his bold opinion on the rookie.

“Since Joe Burrow… [Jayden Daniels] was the most dominating player we played against at Alabama for four, five years.” Saban said. “And I said it last year in the draft, you know, all these pro people call and ask your opinion on players you’ve faced. I said, ‘This is the best player we played against for five years.’ I think this guy is a great passer, he’s fast as hell, he can scramble and make plays, he’s smart, and he makes good decisions. I don’t see how you can go wrong with this guy. I actually thought he was the best player in the draft last year because of the production he had in college—and he did it for two years.”
