BREAKING: Clemson Lands Another Huge Portal Commitment
Dabo Swinney has done it again. The Clemson head coach has landed himself a second impact player out of the transfer portal.
Former Purdue DE Alex Heldt has announced a commitment to the Tigers, The Clemson Insider has confirmed. The 6-foot-6, 265-pound player appeared in all 12 games for the Boilermakers this season, logging 56 tackles, 16 QB pressures,10 tackles for loss and five sacks.
Heldt is the sixth-highest-rated edge rusher in the transfer portal after coming out of high school as a 3-star recruit. He picked Clemson after taking visits to LSU and Texas A&M. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
Heldt is the second player Clemson has landed out of the portal this week after Southeast Missouri State transfer WR signed with the Tigers on Wednesday. While Swinney has taken a couple of backup quarterbacks out of the portal in the past, these two are the most meaningful taken to date.
