Former Penn State WR Makes Transfer Portal Decision On Wednesday
The Penn State Nittany Lions saw their season end in the Orange Bowl against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Still, Penn State making a run to the College Football Playoff Semifinals is a big deal for James Franklin and his program.
Unfortunately, Penn State saw a flurry of players leave via the transfer portal after the loss to Notre Dame.
One of them was wide receiver Omari Evans, who was a starter for Penn State in 2024 and totaled 21 receptions for 415 yards with five touchdowns. He ranked second on the team in yards and receptions and first in touchdowns.
On Wednesday night, Evans found a new home in the transfer portal as he committed to the Washington Huskies, per Hayes Fawcett of On3.
Evans quoted Fawcett’s post with a caption that read, “Hei5man run.”
Washington saw former five-star wide receiver Johntay Cook II leave the program suddenly, and Jedd Fisch and the Huskies wasted no time filling that void by landing Evans.
Evans chose Washington over Texas Tech, Syracuse and Tennessee, so he decided to stay in the Big Ten.
Washington’s 2025 receiver room has a lot of talent with Denzel Boston, Kevin Green Jr., Audric Harris and Rashid Williams.
Evans had a touchdown in the Big Ten title game loss to Oregon and then two catches for 55 yards and a score in the Fiesta Bowl win over Boise State, so he has plenty of potential that could benefit Washington in 2025.
Evans has just one year of eligibility remaining, and he should be a big piece of the offense next year in Seattle.
