Amanda Balionis has been at the center of rampant speculation regarding her marital status in recent weeks, as fans continue to wonder if she and Bryn Renner have separated
Golf presenter Amanda Balionis was briefly thought to be in a relationship with Rory McIlroy, the world’s second-ranked golfer, after rampant online gossip, leaving many to wonder about the state of her marriage to ex-NFL quarterback Bryn Renner. Speculation about a possible romance between McIlroy and Balionis ignited among golf fans when McIlroy had a temporary separation from his wife Erica Stoll. Some viewers interpreted interactions during an RBC Canadian Open interview as flirtatious.
Before this, at the Wells Fargo Championship, some sharp-eyed fans pointed out that Balionis appeared without her wedding ring during interviews and in an Instagram photo. The 39-year-old broadcaster also seemed to signal a change in her personal life by altering her social media handle from “Amanda Balionis Renner” to simply “Amanda Balionis.”
Despite the whispers, the rumor mill was shut down when McIlroy and Stoll reconciled and canceled their divorce plans before the 2024 US Open. Following McIlroy’s narrow loss at Pinehurst No 2, he was seen enjoying a walk with his wife and their daughter Poppy, just hours later, reports the Mirror US.
Despite the rumblings of trouble in paradise, neither Balionis nor Renner have confirmed a split. Until they do, it’s safe to assume that the couple, who got married in 2022, are still together.
Renner, like Balionis, developed a passion for sports from a young age. He shone in basketball and baseball, but it was on the football pitch where he found his true calling.
Renner took his skills to the University of North Carolina, playing from 2009 to 2013. He stepped up to the Tar Heels’ starting quarterback position in his redshirt sophomore year in 2011, a role he held until he left two years later.
After several strong seasons at college level, Renner entered the 2014Â NFLÂ Draft but didn’t hear his name called. The Denver Broncos signed the undrafted quarterback, only to release him a few months later in August of that year.
With little luck in the NFL, Renner chose to sign with the Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League (AFL). Over the next few years, he had brief spells with the Baltimore Ravens, Tennessee Titans, Los Angeles Chargers, and Pittsburgh Steelers, but never managed to secure a permanent spot in the league.
In 2017, Renner decided to hang up his boots and ventured into coaching. He started off as a recruiting coordinator at Florida International University, quickly climbing the ladder to become the cornerbacks coach and eventually quarterbacks coach.
After his stint at FIU, Renner moved to San Diego, California, where he currently coaches quarterbacks for the La Jolla High School football team.
