Celtics legend shockingly says his title with team’s eternal rival means more than his one with Boston
Boston Celtics legend Rajon Rondo is held dear by many Boston fans, being one of the best flashy ball-handlers and playmakers of his time. However, in an interview with Chandler Parsons on the show Run It Back, Rondo let out a shocking revelation; his championship with the Celtics’ eternal rival, the LA Lakers, in 2020 means more than his title with the Celtics in 2008.
“It meant more from a sentimental point, it’s something I’ll remember more with my kids…when I was with the Celtics, I thought this was gonna be my new normal…I kind of took it for granted when I was that young, and then it took me 12 years to get another [title], appreciating it ten times more, and getting to have that experience with my son.”
With the Celtics, Rondo averaged 11 points, 8.5 assists, four rebounds and two steals per game. With the Lakers, he averaged seven points, six assists, three rebounds, and a steal per game.
While it’s not something any Celtics fan would want to hear, Rondo’s reasoning does make sense. He does cherish his title with the Celtics, but his one with the Lakers just meant more on a personal level.
