Davis Thompson shot a wonderful 7-under par 64 to run away with the John Deere Classic for his first PGA Tour victory on Sunday, with broadcaster Amanda Balionis sharing some behind the scenes info after the win.
Balionis took to social media to heap praise on Thompson who played an excellent game, with her eloquently stating that: “Davis Thompson went from knocking on the door last week to ripping it off its hinges for his first PGA victory.”
In an Instagram post, Balionis said that her “favorite” aspect of Thompson’s win was his wife celebrating the beautiful moment on the course.
She wrote: “Davis Thompson went from knocking on the door last week to ripping it off its hinges for his first PGA TOUR victory. Thompson, in his 63rd start, set the new scoring record at the John Deere Classic and qualified for the Open Championship.
“My favorite part of the day was meeting his wife, Holly Grace, who was just as surprised as the rest of us to see him break out into a huge smile on 18.
“The generally stoic Georgia Bulldog finally let it all out after the final putt dropped. It was so fun to watch them celebrate the moment as a couple and enjoy all of the hard work pay off in a big way.”
