Rick Barnes delivers incredible quote on Tennessee’s shooting vs. Mizzou

The Vols need to keep making Coach Barnes happy!

He might be 70 years old, but sometimes Rick Barnes has the passion and energy of someone in their 30s. That’s what coaching the Tennessee Vols basketball team does to him, especially when the No. 4 team in the country is making it rain from all over the hardwood.

Such was the case against No. 15 Missouri on Wednesday night. Tennessee was down by double digits early on in the second half, but then, the Vols caught fire and they ended up posting a thrilling 85-81 win. Barnes was all smiles after the final whistle.

Matter of fact, the win has him thinking about his future. Heck, if Zakai Zeigler and Co. keep shooting lights out, he’ll have no problem being on the bench for the next 40 years. Obviously Barnes was joking, but it sure has people laughing:

Tennessee put on a shooting clinic vs. Missouri on Wednesday night

Barnes is more than welcome to stay until he’s 110! In all seriousness, seeing Tennessee shoot so well against a top-ranked team was awesome. Zeigler missed the stunning upset win over Florida due to a knee injury, but he was back for this one and poured in 21 points.

Not only that, but the superstar point guard was a perfect 4-for-4 on his 3-point attempts. Not to be outdone, Igor Milicic also missed the win over Florida (flu symptoms), but he was back in action and added 20 points for Barnes and the Vols.

As a team, Tennessee shot 50 percent from the floor and 10-of-15 from downtown. We don’t care who UT is playing – if the Vols are shooting that well, they’re going to take down any team in the country. This was yet another impressive home win for this program and they’ll look to keep things rocking this Saturday against Oklahoma.
