On Tuesday, news broke that Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb will not be reporting to NFL training camp in Oxnard, California.
The former Oklahoma Sooners star is entering the final year of his rookie deal worth $4.458M. In his third season with the Cowboys, Lamb had a breakout year, making First-team All-Pro and leading the league in receptions.
Lamb is due for a massive contract extension, especially given his performance last season. He will likely hold out from any football activities with Dallas until general manager/owner Jerry Jones finally pays him.
Many expect Lamb to get a similar extension that Minnesota Vikings star Justin Jefferson received over the offseason.
Even though he missed seven games last season, Jefferson received a four-year, $140M contract extension back in June, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL.
Many NFL fans agreed that CeeDee’s holdout could be the beginning of the end for the Cowboys in the Dak Prescott era. They left their comments about it online.
In 2023, Lamb recorded 135 catches, 1,749 receiving yards, and 14 total touchdowns. He also broke the Cowboy’s single-season records for most receptions and most receiving yards.
