New Orleans Saints’ expectations may turn into their reality just hours after Super Bowl 59 ends between Chiefs and Eagles
The search is seemingly coming to a close for the next New Orleans Saints head coach. They seemed to be locked in with their top candidate, and he is open to the job in the Big Easy.
Kellen Moore expected to be hired
The expected next Saints head coach could be hired as soon as Monday. According to Nick Underhill, Moore will travel back with the Eagles following the game before continuing the HC process with the Saints.
Moore is expected to have his salary more than doubled, and possibly tripled, and few would be willing to surrender an opportunity like that to become one of the NFL’s 32 head coaches.
Moore privately has told people he is interested in and wants the Saints job, according to sources, and the Saints want him, which is why a deal is expected to get done once the sides can meet again after Super Bowl LIX, barring an unexpected breakdown in contract talks. — Adam Schefter
A flood of reports regarding Moore came out on Saturday evening, including the above statement from Schefter. Jordan Schultz and Jeremy Fowler also pointed to the impending deal coming for Moore from New Orleans.
At this point, the details seem to be all that’s left for the two sides to finalize on.
There’s clear interest and motivation to get a contract finished, and Moore will need to work quickly to put together a staff. At this point of the offseason, plenty of his potential assistant options have been hired by other teams that grabbed a new head coach.
No matter what – Moore is the guy for New Orleans. Expect that to be official sooner than later, as long as there are no slip-ups on either side over the next couple days.
