Former NFL player has strong prediction for Jayden Daniels after stellar rookie year
This man isn’t going anywhere. He’s here to stay.
Now that the season is officially over and all 32 teams are in offseason mode, it’s time to look ahead. For the Washington Commanders, there are a ton of reasons to be optimistic. Despite many fans starting out their team’s offseason with hope, the Commanders actually have concrete evidence as to why they should be confident.
In Washington, of course, the number one reason is due to franchise quarterback Jayden Daniels going into Year 2. If he put up that kind of rookie campaign, imagine what he is going to do going forward.
Some might be concerned that Daniels could be one of those players whom the league figures out after one year and ends up seeing their hype and production dwindle. However, if you ask former NFL defensive end Akbar Gbajabiamila, Daniels is not going to be one of those players.
Sitting down with Sterling Holmes of Stacking the Box along with Malcom Harris-Gowdie, Gbajabiamila talked a few different topics, including Daniels being one he enjoyed watching more than just about anybody else last season.
Akbar Gbajabiamila believes Jayden Daniels is the real deal
There are a few reasons why a player such as Daniels could fizzle out and equally as many reasons why he’ll continue to ascend. But, the number one reason why we should count on his ascension? On behalf of his partnership with Experian Boost, Gbajabiamila explained exactly why.
“I don’t think this is going to be one of those talents we see have a great rookie year and then dwindle out, and I’ll tell you why,” Gbajabiamila said. “Those comebacks he had this year showed me that this is built into his DNA, the fabric of who he is.”
He has a strong point. When crunch time hits, some quarterbacks flounder while others rise to the occasion. Daniels proved to be one of those players who does not fold in the face of tribulation. When things looked grim, Daniels remained steady.
That’s a characteristic that is not only going to carry Daniels to further success, but his teammates as well. That’s a trait which tends to rub off on others around you. That’s part of the definition of a true leader.
Daniels has that “it” factor some still try and define today. While it cannot be defined, what Gbajabiamila described is nearly a perfect explanation.
