West Ham United have been making some good moves in the transfer market this summer and could prove to be quite the force in the Premier League next season.
The Hammers beat out a lot of competition to secure the signing of Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville on Saturday, snapping up the promising youngster for £25million.
Meanwhile Newcastle United are working on a massive deal to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace and will also be looking to secure a winger themselves before the window closes.
West Ham’s acquisition of Crysencio Summerville, who was linked to Newcastle, might actually work out in the Magpies’ favour.
Newcastle were linked with a move for Jarrod Bowen earlier this summer
Early in the window, Newcastle were linked with a big money move for West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen, but the Hammers were adamant that he wasn’t for sale.
However, they now look to have signed his replacement which suggests they could now be open to letting Bowen leave.
It’s unlikely that they’d let him go on the cheap, but if Newcastle have been eyeing Guehi all this time, willing to break their transfer record to sign him, then what’s to say they weren’t also playing the long game with Bowen?
We could be dreaming a bit here
We should be clear that we have absolutely nothing to back this up, we’re just playing a bit of fantasy football.
To be honest, we highly doubt that Newcastle would break their transfer record twice in one window with the latter purchase being for a 27-year-old, but we can dream, can’t we?
As we’ve been saying in the office, if we’re not letting Eddie Howe go to England, we’ll bring the England players to him.
