What Did Utah Loss Do to Kansas State’s NCAA Tournament Hopes?

the Utah Utes in Salt Lake City.

Entering the contest, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi had the Wildcats listed on the bubble as the field’s 75th-ranked team, seven spots out of the tournament.

Following the conclusion of Monday night’s games, Lunardi released a bracketology update, which left the Wildcats unphased as they did not drop in the rankings at all.

While that statement may be true on Tuesday morning, the majority of teams have yet to take the court, at least those in contention for a spot on the bubble.

For K-State to reach paydirt as an NCAA Tournament team this season, Lunardi believes the Wildcats must finish at least 4-2 in their final six games. After the loss to Utah, that number climbs to 4-1. Thankfully, Kansas State will have every opportunity to do so as they face four teams outside of the tournament field in their final five games.

Kansas State will clash with Arizona State, UCF, Colorado, Cincinnati, and No. 8 Iowa State to close out the regular season. While the team continues to fight its way toward an NCAA Tournament berth, they certainly aren’t making it any easier on themselves with stumbles on the road.
