MLB insider has a couple of interesting picks for starting pitchers if Red Sox miss out on Corbin Burnes

The Boston Red Sox are still on the hunt for another starting pitcher, but it seems their choices are starting to dwindle. According to MLB insider Ken Rosenthal, he thinks the Red Sox won’t trade for another starter if they lose out on Corbin Burnes, but rather sign one of the L.A. Dodgers in Jack Flaherty or Walker Buehler.

Buehler just started to be on the Red Sox’s radar a few days ago. In his career, Buehler has posted a 3.27 ERA, a 47-22 record, and 754 strikeouts. He is coming back from his second Tommy John surgery, so he might not be the best answer between the two.

As for Flaherty, the Sox tried to acquire him at the trade deadline last season. This past season, Flaherty had a 13-7 record with a 3.17 ERA, and 194 strikeouts. He along with Buehler was also a key in winning the World Series.

Between the two, the better option is probably Flaherty. He’s younger, has less major injury history, and had better stats this past season. Hopefully the Sox land Burnes though, and don’t have to consider this.
