Nottingham Forest have been linked with the Porto defender who spent part of last season on loan with Evangelos Marinakis’ Olympiacos
Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal to make David Carmo their ninth signing of the transfer window.
That’s according to Fabrizio Romano who claims there is a deal in place for Carmo to join for a fee of €11million, plus €4m in add-ons. He adds that the centre back will sign a five year deal.
However, the 25-year-old is expected to be loaned straight to Evangelos Marinakis’ Olympiacos for the 2024/25 campaign. Forest are well-stocked in the middle of their defence with Willy Boly benched in favour of Murillo and Nikola Milenković for the 1-0 victory at Southampton. Andrew Omobamidele was an unused substitute at St Mary’s.
However, Forest have been linked with Carmo for a large part of the summer – as have Steve Cooper ’s Leicester City. Also Nuno Espirito Santo’s former club Wolves are also claimed to have been keen.
The Portuguese-born Angola international moved from Braga to Porto for €20m in the summer of 2022. He has only made 27 appearances since then and ended last season on loan with Olympiacos with whom he won the Europa Conference League.
