Former Texas WR gives the rest of the country advice about trying to get Quinn Ewers in the transfer portal

The Texas Longhorns are prepping for another game in the College Football Playoff. Meanwhile. Johntay Cook has landed elsewhere, since entering the transfer portal. Cook now resides with the Washington Huskies.

That did not prevent the young receiver from making his presence felt after a recent report about the Longhorns QB.

The former Longhorns pass catcher did not mince words when he saw a post about teams potentially tampering with the Texas quarterback. He clearly did not hold Ewers in high regards after playing with him, for whatever reason.

Cook said that a team going after Ewers in the transfer portal would be wasting their money.

Cook, a 6-foot sophomore from DeSoto, played in all 14 games last season as a freshman. He caught only eight passes for 136 yards. Cook came to Texas as an Under Armour All-American and was ranked the sixth-best receiver in the nation in the class of 2023, according to ESPN. — Brian Davis

The wideout struggled to produce for Texas this season. His snaps became limited then dissipated completely on offense for the Longhorns. Once Cook entered the portal, Coach Steve Sarkisian said it was a mutual decision and “We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.”

Cook quickly took back his comments about Ewers on social media as well. That should come as no surprise.

nothing but love for my former teammates at my previous university. I thank you all for the great competition and memories. Gods plan not mine

Social media outbursts have become a trend for Cook over the course of the season. He’s consistently let his emotions fly, regardless of the reasoning.

As for Texas, they’re not worried about these sort of antics as they get ready to face the Arizona State Sun Devils.

For Cook, hopefully he will be able to further his career as a Husky. His maturity certainly must take a step forward if that is going to occur.
