Recent Bracketology matches BYU basketball against a familiar rival

As the month of February nears its close, the most highly-anticipated month in college basketball rapidly approaches. March Madness, or the NCAA Tournament, is the event of the year and arguably the greatest postseason tournament ever conceived by mortal minds.
It’s chaos. It’s anxiety. It’s euphoria. It’s angrily screaming at your mother in law for cheering while your sleeper Final Four pick loses on a half court buzzer-beater prayer. It’s the peak of basketball, and it’s the game in its purest form.
BYU basketball’s prospects of securing a spot in the official bracket was up in the air after early losses to Utah and TCU. A hot streak in the back half of the season rocketed the Cougars firmly off the bubble and into a permanent slot in the field of 68.
A recent bracket projection courtesy of Joe Lunardi sets Kevin Young’s Cougars in the 8 seed, setting up a second-round meeting with the shockingly awesome Florida Gators if they can win a non-First-Four tournament game for the first time since Jimmer Fredette’s Senior year (which ironically ended at the hands of Florida).
Here’s the catch: BYU is currently slated against a tough Utah State team. In a year where these two in-state rivals never met, their paths may just cross in the postseason, with a bit more than bragging rights on the line in a winner-take-all, loser-take-off matchup.
Utah State is miraculously still a power in the Mountain West Conference after its personal coaching carousel spat out yet another fantastic season to this point. With only four losses on the year to this point, the Aggies have Logan bouncing with every home meeting.
Confidence reigns supreme between both sides in this one, but only one side could take home the victory and the glorious opportunity to be blown out by an SEG juggernaut.
