Two Big 12 Teams Listed on Bubble in Latest Bracketology Update

Joe Lunardi released his latest bracketology update on Tuesday morning, and there’s some real chaos building for the Big 12 conference.

Despite appearing to be in the midst of what some describe as a “down year,” the Big 12 Conference is still expected to place multiple National Championship contenders in the field. However, the drama comes when discussing the bubble.

Two teams from the league are currently listed on either side of the bubble, including West Virginia and Cincinnati. The Mountaineers would make the tournament if it began today, while Cincinnati would narrowly miss out in the next, next four out category.

As the regular season winds down, West Virginia sits at 7-9 in conference play, and Cincinnati checks in with a 6-10 record. The Mountaineers fell in their last outing in blowout fashion to No. 9 Texas Tech, while Cincinnati took down the TCU Horned Frogs, 75-63.

In the update, the Big 12 was listed with eight total tournament teams, including Houston, Iowa State, Texas Tech, Arizona, Kansas, BYU, Baylor, and West Virginia. Cincinnati was the next closest tournament team, listed at No. 79.

Each team will have several opportunities to improve their stock ahead of the 2025 NCAA Tournament, and with the Big 12 Conference widely regarded as the nation’s best basketball league, it wouldn’t shock many to see a double-digit number of league members slip into the tournament field.
