Arkansas football wide receiver Dazmin James will enter transfer portal
Dazmin James had a coming-out party at the Liberty Bowl, but any more celebrations will happen away from the Arkansas football program.
The redshirt freshman wide receiver confirmed his intention to enter the transfer portal on Instagram on Tuesday. James had three catches for 137 yards and a touchdown in a 39-26 win over Texas Tech on Friday night as the Razorbacks (7-6) finished their season on a high.
James earned playing time at the Liberty Bowl thanks to departures from wide receivers Andrew Armstrong and Isaiah Sategna, who recently announced he’s be transferring to Oklahoma. James entered the game with zero catches in his college career.
His first grab set a school record. In the first quarter, James took a simple slant route 94 yards for a touchdown, marking the longest touchdown reception in program history.
James was rated a three-star athlete coming out Clayton High School in North Carolina during the 2023 recruiting class. He was a late-rising recruit who chose the Hogs over North Carolina State and South Carolina.
His departure adds another hole at wide receiver. The Razorbacks are losing their top-seven pass catchers from 2024, but they’ve already added four receivers through the portal, including Missouri’s Courtney Crutchfield, who was one of the top recruits in the state of Arkansas last year.
