Kentucky has extended its first scholarship offer in the class of 2027.
Monday, the Wildcats issued an offer to Silver Spring (Md.) James Hubert Blake small forward Baba Oladotun, he announced via social media.
UK joins an early offer sheet for the 6-foot-9, 175-pound forward that already includes Cincinnati, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, Ole Miss, Rutgers, Syracuse, Texas, UCLA, USC, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia among others.
While not yet ranked by 247Sports, Oladotun is widely considered to be a strong contender for the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2027 class.
247Sports National Basketball Director Eric Bossi walked away extremely impressed with what he saw out of Oladotun at the Nike Elite 100 camp in St. Louis over the summer.
“We won’t debut rankings for the class of 2027 until at least the end of the summer. But when we do introduce them, expect to see Babatunde Oladotun of Silver Spring (Md.) Blake and Lincoln Cosby of Atlanta (Ga.) Overtime Elite near the top of the standings. In fact, they could be competing for the No. 1 spot and Monday night may be the beginning of an elite prospect battle that could last for years,” Bossi wrote.
“Nearly carbon copies of each other physically, Oladotun and Cosby are both lean, 6-foot-9 forwards who can play as big wings or face-up four men. Cosby has a little more bulk while Oladotun may be slightly more fluid with the ball. They are both athletic, quick and have advanced skillsets given their size and youth.
“On Monday, we had to give the edge to Oladotun. He came out firing from the start, hitting a left wing three. He had a tough finish in traffic and made an incredibly difficult jumper from the left corner. He has shot making skill, can get to spots off the dribble, and while he’s going to have to add weight as he matures, his natural talent is obvious and advanced.
“It’s hard to believe that these guys are just finishing their freshmen years of high school. It’s going to be a lot of fun watching them develop over the next three years.”
Oladotun plays for Team Durant on the Nike EYBL travel circuit.
