West Brom youngster Jayden Kouossu has joined Newcastle United from the Albion academy
West Brom midfielder Jayden Kouossu has completed a move to Premier League outfit Newcastle United, where he will join up with their under 16s side.
The highly rated youngster, who is only 15, has spent time in Albion’s academy but has been scouted by the Magpies and lured to Tyneside where he’ll continue his development. It’s believed that Chelsea and Fulham were also very keen on signing Kouossu, but Newcastle have emerged as the successful suitor.
Kouossu posted a message on his Instagram account confirming his Albion departure. It read: “Never thought this day would come but I announce with a heavy heart after 8 years at the club that I have officially left West Brom.
“I would like to give a huge thank you to all the coaches and staff for pushing me to my limits year after year and all of the outstanding team-mates throughout the years on the pitch. But I believe this decision was necessary and the story must continue, thank you Baggies.”
Kouossu joins a lengthy list of Albion academy players who have found their way to other clubs having been initially identified and nurtured by the Baggies; Morgan Rogers was one such player who has gone on to hit heights having been taken out of the club by Manchester City, while Tim Iroegbunam and Jamal Jimoh-Aloba are among a host to have joined Aston Villa, although the former has since moved to Everton.
