Ian Wright and Roy Keane have submitted their score predictions for Wolves’ clash with Newcastle United.
Molineux will play host to the two sides on match day four of the Premier League season as Wolves search for their first three points of 2024/25.
Gary O’Neil’s side picked up their first point of the campaign last time out at the City Ground, recording a 1-1 draw with Nuno Santo’s Nottingham Forest.
There were plenty of improvements evident against Forest, with another challenge now set to test the Old Gold as Newcastle come to visit.
Wolves v Newcastle United score prediction
Last season, Wolves managed to secure a draw against Eddie Howe’s side at Molineux, drawing 2-2 with the Magpies back in October 2023.
Mario Lemina and Hwang Hee-chan were the players on the scoresheet at the time, with the most recent meeting between the two sides something to forget.
Wolves and Newcastle last met in March at St James’ Park, where the hosts beat Wolves 3-0 in a questionable display.
It’s difficult to predict how Sunday’s duel will go, however, Ian Wright and Roy Keane are in total agreement with their score predictions.
Discussing how match day four of the Premier League season will pan out on The Overlap, Keane and Wright were on the ‘same page’ with their opinion.
Keane said, “I think that’s got a draw written all over it,” to which Wright replied, “I feel like we’re on the same page.”
The two Premier League icons predicted a 1-1 scoreline to play out at Molineux, whereas Jamie Carragher answered for Gary Neville with a 2-1 win for the Magpies.
Wolves have to get a result against Newcastle
With only one point on the board, Wolves are in desperate need of a win as the fixtures are set to grow in difficulty for O’Neil’s side.
If Wolves fail to get a draw or a win against Newcastle on Sunday afternoon, it will be record the club’s worst start to a Premier League season since their promotion in 2018.
Season | First four results | Points |
2018/19 | DLDW | 5 |
2019/20 | DDDL | 3 |
2020/21 | WLLW | 6 |
2021/22 | LLLW | 3 |
2022/23 | LDLD | 2 |
2023/24 | LLWL | 3 |
2024/25 | LLD? | 1* |
After making improvements last term, O’Neil will be craving a win against Howe’s side on match day four, with the idea of defeat unfathomable due to the fixtures that Wolves are bracing for.
Aston Villa, Liverpool, Brentford and Manchester City come next for the Old Gold, emphasising the importance of a positive result against Newcastle.
