Former 4-Star Prospect, Michigan Wolverines Defender Enters Transfer Portal After Win vs. Alabama
Michigan football showed off its considerable depth on the defensive side of the ball on Tuesday vs. Alabama as the Wolverines secured a 19-13 win, holding Alabama star receiver Ryan Williams to just three catches for eight yards.
Afterward, the focus turned to the future of the Michigan defense and program as fans, players and coaches celebrated their second calendar year win over a blue blood college football program.
The Wolverines later received news that a former four-star defender from SEC country had announced his intention to transfer out of Ann Arbor.
Michigan cornerback Kody Jones, a native of Germantown, TN, entered the transfer portal, He is a former four-star recruit.
Jones had one solo tackle this season in limited action for Wink Martindale’s defense after recording five tackles the previous season in Ann Arbor.
The Class of 2022 recruit Jones became crowded out of a defensive backfield led by emerging players including transfer safety Wesley Walker and transfer cornerback Aamir Hall.
Michigan finished the season with an 8-5 record with wins over rivals Ohio State and Michigan State along with their bowl game win over Kalen DeBoer’s Crimson Tide, which Michigan was a two-touchdown underdog in or more in some betting circles.
