The Canucks started their training camp on Thursday and Rick Tocchet shared his fair share of surprises.
Up to this point, the Canucks’ first round pick in 2022 Jonathan Lekkerimäki has been skating by Elias Pettersson and Jake Debrusk’s side completing a very intriguing line. Aatu Raty has been centering what could be the opening night’s third line with Conor Garland and Nils Hoglander.
The two have outperformed the expectations thus far and Rick Tocchet just made a very interesting statement in their regard. Not only did he confirm he intended on keeping these lines together, but he also confirmed that both Raty and Lekkerimäki would been given three to four pre-season games.
This makes up for a very intriguing pre season internal battle, after Patrik Allvin made a bunch of additions, everybody believed the Canucks lineup was sealed, but injuries to notable veterans such as Teddy Blueger and Dakota Joshua gives the team’s young guns opportunities to crack the team’s line up.
The Canucks may have empty slots on their line-up and Rick Tocchet confirmed that Lekkerimäki would be given the opportunity to prove his worth.
