Shilen Patel was clearly thrilled after West Brom beat Plymouth Argyle 1-0 on Saturday as he took to social media and reacted with a raised hands emoji.
The Baggies managed to carry on their stellar run of form in the 2024/25 season after Josh Maja added a sixth goal to his Championship tally.
Carlos Corberan’s men still find themselves at the top of the Championship table with 16 points, just one ahead of second-placed Sunderland.
West Brom need to extend Carlos Corberan’s contract
West Brom have had a stellar couple of seasons under the watchful eye of Carlos Corberan with the Baggies finding themselves consistently competing for promotion.
While not all the club’s work can be put down to just the Spaniard, his tactical mind and the way he has the squad working together are all key factors behind their success.
That’s why it came as something of a surprise that Corberan has a £2million release clause [Football Insider, 18 September] within his current contract.
While Patel has spent the vast majority of his time focusing on bolstering West Brom’s squad with players such as Matty Johnston arriving for £3million [Lewis Cox, 28 August], he now needs to turn his attention towards Corberan’s contract.
The Spaniard would be a major loss for the club and with teams such as Everton considering the manager as their next target [The Express, 31 August], Corberan’s future needs to be tied down as soon as possible.
Without the 41-year-old leading the charge, it’s unknown whether the club would be able to produce the same sort of form as they are now, which is why Patel’s efforts should now be 100 per cent focused on his manager.
