Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin commented on the Kevin Lankinen signing on Saturday.
While it seemed in recent weeks that both sides were going to go separate directions due to salary reasons, the Canucks were able to get a deal done with unrestricted free agent goaltender Kevin Lankinen, signing him for one-year at $875,000.
Lankinen will more than likely start the season on the Canucks’ roster because of Thatcher Demko’s recovery from injury and will form a tandem with Arturs Silovs.
After the news was made public, Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin commented on the signing, saying that Lankinen has size and a skillset that they like to have in their goaltenders.
Lankinen, 29, appeared in 24 games for the Predators last season where he had a record of 11-6-0 with a 2.82 goals against average, a .908 save percentage and one shutout.
It’s unclear when Lankinen will report to Canucks camp, but it’ll likely be either today or tomorrow, which could put him on track to play in either Friday or Saturday’s preseason games against Seattle and Calgary, respectively.
