Wisconsin Basketball Loses In-State Guard to Transfer Portal
Madison, WI — A fourth member of the Wisconsin basketball team that earned a No. 3 seed in the 2025 NCAA Tournament has entered the transfer portal. With six additional departures by seniors, the majority of head coach Greg Gard’s roster will be brand new this fall.
The losses are hitting the Badgers across the entire roster. From young guards to experienced forwards, there is tremendous upheaval in Madison this off-season, although most of it was expected.
However, the most recent loss may not have been expected. After one season with the Badgers, an in-state product is on his way out of Madison, despite initially picking UW over other opportunities.
Wisconsin Basketball Guard Aidan Konop Enters Transfer Portal
In a social media post, Aidan Konop announced Friday that his time with the Wisconsin Badgers has ended.
Konop wrote, “Thank you, Wisconsin! Grateful for the relationships I’ve built with my coaches and teammates. I am entering the transfer portal with 3 years of eligibility left!”
Konop enrolled at UW as a preferred walk-on, spurning at least one known Division II scholarship offer from Hillsdale College (Michigan). Konop announced his decision to join the Badgers last June.
The Sussex native appeared in four games with Wisconsin basketball. Konop entered in the final minute of victories over the Holy Cross Crusaders, Appalachian State Mountaineers, Detroit Mercy Titans, and Washington Huskies. He did not record any counting stats in those appearances.
In his senior year of high school, Konop averaged 20 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals per game. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound guard shot over 50% from the floor and 40% on threes, leading Sussex-Hamilton High School to the WIAA regional final.
