Dabo Swinney, Clemson Receive Disappointing Transfer News on Monday

Head coach Dabo Swinney is set to lose a former four-star recruit to the transfer portal after Clemson held its spring game on April 5.

The Tigers have done a strong job in keeping the bulk of their talent following an ACC championship and College Football Playoff appearance last season. Clemson had previously lost six transfers while adding three talents of its own.

But those numbers came from the winter transfer window. With the spring window approaching (April 16-25) and the Tigers’ spring period wrapped up, Clemson is expected to lose at least some contributors to other programs.

The first announcement came on Monday, as former four-star recruit and second-year cornerback Tavoy Feagin revealed his plans to enter the portal (On3).

Feagin (6-foot, 180 pounds) originally signed with Clemson as the No. 25 corner in the class of 2024, per 247Sports composite. Feagin hails from Tampa, Florida, where he played at Carrollwood Day High School.

Buried on the depth chart as a true freshman last season, Feagin ultimately took a redshirt after playing 11 total snaps over two game appearances. The former Under Armour All-American will have four years of eligibility remaining.

Losing talent is never welcomed, especially when departures come after the spring period. However, Clemson and new defensive coordinator Tom Allen return a trio of talents at the position.

Junior Avieon Terrell headlines the group after earning Second-Team All-ACC honors last season. Jeadyn Lukus returns as a senior after breaking out last season and logging 10 starts. Additionally, Ashton Hampton appeared in all 14 games as a true freshman in 2024.

Clemson will kick off the 2025 season at home against LSU on Aug. 30.
