Walter Clayton Jr. Sends 4-Word Message After Florida’s National Championship Win
The Florida Gators are the 2025 Men’s college basketball champions. Despite struggling early, entering the halftime locker room with a three-point deficit, scoring just 28 points, the Gators clawed their way to victory behind a strong second-half performance.
No one struggled more in the first half than All-American, First Team All-SEC guard, Walter Clayton Jr. Clayton Jr., who dropped a career-high 34 points in the Final Four against Auburn, was held scoreless the entire first half.
Like he’s done all year, Clayton Jr. raised his game when the lights were brightest. Clayton Jr., who had averaged 24.6 points per game across the Gators’ first five tournament wins, delivered a clutch second-half performance helping Florida secure a 65-63 win over Houston.
Clayton Jr. finished with 11 points, seven assists, five rebounds, one steal, and one block and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four.
With the Gators winning their third National Championship in school history, Clayton Jr. took to social media, sending a clear four-word message.
“Gator Boys STAY HOT!” Clayton Jr. posted on his official X account.
With Houston’s defense turning the National Championship game into a slugfest, Will Richard stepped up offensively, scoring 14 of his 18 points in the first half.
Throughout the NCAA tournament, Clayton Jr. has said all the right things, supporting the brotherhood he and his Gators teammates have created.
“It ain’t just about me. We got a team of guys that could cook. We got a motto — ‘We all could go.’ That’s what happened tonight,” Clayton Jr. said.
