Faces in the Crowd: Arkansas baseball’s Hog Pen community rallies around Kendall ‘KDog’ Apple
FAYETTEVILLE — Kendall Apple is best known as KDog, and he’s best recognized by his sunglasses.
The unique shades go over the top of his head and resemble something out of a sci-fi movie. Apple has had them since 1998, back when he used to collect sunglasses. They predate his time in Arkansas baseball’s Hog Pen: He has been an outfield regular since 2009, when he came to a series against South Carolina in early April.
At that first game, Apple and his friends sat farther back in the outfield. Eventually, he wanted to be closer to the action, and he started arriving early to line up for a front-row spot. He still does for every weekend series, and he has sat in the same spot near the bullpen for more than 15 years.
