South Carolina Gamecocks Losing 4-Star Prospect to Transfer Portal
The South Carolina Gamecocks football team is losing a former four-star prospect to the transfer portal. The news comes just days before the spring transfer portal officially opens.
Hayes Fawcett of On3 shared on X : “South Carolina CB Emory Floyd plans to enter the Transfer Portal. The 6’1 195 CB appeared in 7 games in his time with the Gamecocks. Spent time on the track team as well, running a 21.33 200M.”
When Floyd committed to the Gamecocks, he had been a four-star prospect from Georgia.
In high school, he had 24 tackles in nine games, four interceptions and five passes defended. He was ranked as the 17th-best safety in the country and the 24th-best player in the state, according to Gamecocks Online.
Floyd did not start any games with South Carolina and appeared in seven, The State reported. A hamstring injury limited him most of last season, even though he had previously been competing for a starting position.
Floyd is a cornerback, but the Gamecocks will still have a strong cornerback lineup without him, The State noted. These include transfer Brandon Cissee, Vicari Swain, and Judge Collier.
A different four-star prospect also decided against the Gamecocks earlier this month.
On April 8, four-star prospect, defensive back Peyton Dyer, decommitted from South Carolina, The Herald reported. He had made the 2026 commitment back in November 2024. He played both wide receiver and cornerback at Duluth High School in Georgia. He still had 20 offers when he decommitted, The Herald noted.
