Hugh Freeze, Auburn Receive Bad Transfer Portal News on Monday
Hugh Freeze and the Auburn Tigers are hoping to work their way back into College Football Playoff contention in 2025. They have a lot of work to do to get there, but they have added a lot of quality talent from last season to this year.
One of the big offseason additions was quarterback Jackson Arnold. His presence alone could help the Tigers take a big step forward if he plays up to his potential.
That being said, Auburn received some bad transfer portal news on Monday.
According to a report from Pete Nakos of On3 Sports, cornerback JC Hart has decided to enter the portal.
Hart may not have played a lot during his freshman season in 2024, but he had a lot of potential for the future.
During the 2024 college football season, Hart recorded five total tackles in limited playing time. He played in just two games.
When he originally committed to the Tigers, Hart was a three-star recruiting out of Auburn, Alabama. He was ranked as the No. 71 cornerback in the 2023 recruiting class and was the No. 701 player in the nation, according to 247 Sports. Hart was also ranked No. 30 in the state of Alabama.
Standing in at 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds, Hart has good size and athleticism for the cornerback position. He should not have much trouble finding a new home in the transfer portal.
Earlier on Monday, Auburn also lost safety Terrance Love to the portal. He had played 22 games for the Tigers over the last two seasons.
