Wisconsin Football Staff Adds Size, Length to Defense Following 2026 Commitment: ‘Can’t Wait to Join the Family!’
The Wisconsin football staff added an excellent 2026 recruit to the class recently after securing a commitment from Carmelow Reed.
Reed, a three-star defensive lineman, stands in tall at 6-feet-7-inches and provides an extreme frame for the Badgers staff to work with. The talented defender previously stressed that he was looking to find “home” with his collegiate commitment, and now feels that his dream has come true.
The defender received a full-confidence prediction from 247 Sports the night after a successful visit and meeting with the Badgers staff. Reed is now the third 2026 commitment the Badgers and currently the highest-rated commitment for Wisconsin with a rating of 88.
Wisconsin Football Staff Lands Three-Star DL Carmelow Reed Following Successful Visit
After multiple conversations, talented three-star defensive lineman Carmelow Reed announced that a visit with Wisconsin had been scheduled.
Shortly after the visit ended, however, Reed realized he had a lot more to think about involving his recruitment and ultimate commitment decision. Reed stated that the visit was “great” and felt a “family” environment when around the staff and players.
The talented defender has racked up 16 scholarships thus far into the recruiting process, with programs like LSU, Missouri, and Mississippi State extending offers just before the commitment. Reed received his second scholarship from the Wisconsin football staff, with his first extended offer coming from Bowling Green.
The Wisconsin football staff has worked hard for each and every commitment, but the commitment of Reed was particularly important to the staff due to his talent and location.
The Badgers have found recent success in both Illinois and Indiana and have continued to dive deep into each state to find the fast-rising talent needed.
How Will Carmelow Reed Impact the Wisconsin Football Defense Upon Arrival?
For both Reed and the Wisconsin football staff, causing chaos on defense is going to be the name of the game moving forward.
Reed is a tall, lengthy rusher who stands in at 6-feet-7-inches tall and nearly 260-pounds with plenty of time to add to an already massive frame. Reed stands out on the field physically, and the same can be said about his dynamic playstyle on the football field.
The talented and versatile defender is technically considered a defensive lineman in the 2026 recruiting class, but has the ability to move around. Reed can also drop into coverage or fulfill the duties of a coverage linebacker when needed thanks to a significant burst of speed. The quick-twitch of Reed also allows for the talented defender to respond instantaneously to the incoming play in the back-field.
Perhaps the biggest boost that Reed will provide the Wisconsin football team with right out of the gate is strength. Reed is a powerful player who can move bigger lineman out of the way despite a clear weight difference at times on the field. The raw power of Reed is something that could become an excellent tool at the next level with the right development and coaching moving forward.
