The academy midfielder, son of Airdrieonians boss John Rankin, celebrated his birthday last month and has now agreed to stay with the club until the summer of 2029.
✍️ We can today announce Luca Rankin has signed his first professional contract with the club.
The highly-rated midfielder, who celebrated his 16th birthday last month, has committed his future to the club until the summer of 2029.
Last season, Rankin was a regular feature for both the Under-17s and Under-19s, helping each side to league title success.
He has also made his mark internationally, having been recognised at Under-16 level for Scotland.
The deal comes as Rangers aim to retain their top young talents and amid growing attention around their 2010-born cohort.
Interim head of academy David McCallum was pleased with the deal, highlighting the player’s development and the club’s pathway.
McCallum said: “We are thrilled that Luca has signed his first professional contract at the club.
“The interest in Luca from elsewhere has been well-documented, as has been the case for several of our 2010-born age group this year.
“But he believes in the opportunities that exist here, and his decision reflects the clear pathway we provide for young players.”
Rankin has been noted as a player who takes challenges in his stride.
McCallum added: “Luca has taken every challenge in his stride throughout his time in the academy, and he will be supported and challenged every step of the way by the fantastic staff we have here at the club.”
