Giants Should Let Russell Wilson Cook — Jaxson Dart’s Time Will Come, Says NFL Analyst

The New York Giants’ quarterback room looks like the set of a buddy comedy — dinners out, Love Island marathons, and locker room laughs. Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston, Tommy DeVito, and rookie Jaxson Dart are vibing like a tight-knit crew.

But beneath the surface of camaraderie brews a serious quarterback battle.

Dart, the confident rookie, is soaking up everything. “I want to be the most coachable guy I can be,” he said. His willingness to learn from Wilson and Winston hasn’t gone unnoticed. Still, there’s a fine line between eager and ready.

Russell Wilson — 26 touchdowns, 98.0 passer rating last season — isn’t washed. He’s leading first-team reps, commanding the film room, and holding leadership dinners. The message is clear: he’s not handing over the reins yet.

NFL analyst Harry Douglas was blunt on Get Up (July 17):

“Hell no. Not doing it. Can’t do it. Won’t do it,”
referring to any talk of starting Dart in Week 1. “Russ and Jameis are in that room. Dart doesn’t need to get thrown to the wolves.”

And the wolves are real — Jayden Daniels and the Commanders, then Dak and Micah, followed by Mahomes and Herbert. That’s a rookie’s nightmare stretch.

Even Eli Manning backed the vet:

“If Russell Wilson is playing well, let him play. That’s a good situation for Jaxson Dart.”

Let the rookie learn in the shadows. His moment will come. But this is still Russell Wilson’s team — for now.
