The Dallas Cowboys are officially set to begin training camp on Wednesday, July 24.
Barring a drastic change in sentiment, it appears star wideout CeeDee Lamb will not be joining the rest of his teammates in Oxnard, California – at least to begin camp.
According to multiple NFL insiders on Tuesday night, Lamb is not expected to report to training camp on Wednesday.
The Cowboys wide receiver is entering the final year of his current deal and seems to be seeking a contract extension in line with other top NFL receivers.
Lamb, 25, earned his third consecutive Pro Bowl nod in 2023 after putting up the best numbers of his NFL career.
He set new career bests in receptions (135 – which also led the NFL), receiving yards (1,749) and touchdowns (12). Lamb was also named a first-team All-Pro for the first time in 2023.
Lamb will earn close to $18 million in 2024 under the fifth-year option on his rookie deal.
His upcoming contract extension is expected to reach figures close to, or north of, $30 million per year with Minnesota’s Justin Jefferson ($35 million AAV) and Philadelphia’s AJ Brown ($32 million AAV) having recently signed new deals this offseason.
