The Chronicle Looks At What Sion James Has Brought To Duke.
Duke has thrived since Sion James moved into the starting lineup but he’s been somewhat of a quiet player, at least as far as most fans are concerned.
That changed to an extent against Illinois, with James starting off the game with two threes. He was also led in assists with six. He had four turnovers against Incarnate Word on December 12th, but since then, he’s never had more than two, five games with just one and six games with none at all.

As a senior, he’s been through the wars and doesn’t panic. Take a look at the beginning of the Illinois game where he and Khaman Maluach bum rushed Illini point guard Kasparas Jakucionis as soon as he crossed half court the first time.
It really set the tone for the game.
James is capable of being a dominant player but smart enough to realize that that’s not the best way for him to help his team.
He basically started (and continues) as a great glue guy, but his willingness to embrace his role and to do the dirty work has made him into a player who could parlay that into a shot at the NBA.
He’s made a huge difference for this team and looks like he may become one of the most popular transfers Duke’s ever had
