BYU Men’s Basketball In Midst Of Great 3-Game Stretch
The BYU Cougars men’s basketball team just put together a historic three-game stretch. In each of their last three games, the team has scored 90+ points, shot at least 50% from the field, made 12+ three-pointers, and turned the ball over fewer than 12 times. No other Division I team has hit these benchmarks for three consecutive games this century. Unsurprisingly, the Cougars went 3-0 over that stretch.
BYU’s streak began by defeating No. 23 Kansas 91-57 at home last Tuesday. It continued on Saturday against No. 19 Arizona on the road 96-95 and last night at Arizona State 91-81. The Cougars are rounding into form at precisely the right time. Will they be able to keep it going?
BYU Season Summary
BYU is one of the hottest teams in college basketball. They have won five straight games. This great stretch helped the Cougars be ranked No. 25 in the most recent AP Top 25. The Cougars are 20-8 and in fourth place in the Big 12.
As has been the case during their winning streak, the team has been powered by its offense. They are 31st in points per game, 19th in field goal percentage, and 24th in three-point percentage. BYU’s defense has been their weak point this season. They are 123rd in points allowed, 151st in opposing field goal percentage, and 279th in opposing three-point percentage. BYU’s offense has helped them maintain the 27th-best point differential in the nation.
Final Thoughts
The team looks to continue making history when they host West Virginia on Saturday. BYU only has three games remaining in the regular season before postseason play starts. They will look to keep up their winning ways and end on a high note.
