D.J. Wagner, the former five-star recruit, has officially announced his transfer commitment.
The son of the former NBA player has officially transferred from Kentucky to Arkansas, where he will be playing for his former coach, John Calipari.
Wagner made the commitment official on Sunday night.
“Reliable sources have told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that D.J. Wagner, a former Kentucky guard who was a consensus 5-star prospect in high school, committed to Arkansas this weekend,” Richard Davenport reported on Sunday.
From the report:
Wagner is the eighth addition to the roster since Arkansas coach John Calipari was hired from Kentucky on April 10.
The roster had zero scholarship players when Calipari and staff took over and now have the top transfer class in the nation. Arkansas’ transfer class was rated No. 1 nationally by 247Sports prior to Wagner’s pledge.
Wagner was viewed by many as a likely one-and-done player, though he had an up-and-down first season of college basketball.
The combo guard averaged 9.9 points and 3.3 assists per game during the 2023-24 season, shooting a little better than 40 percent from the field.
