Nebraska women’s basketball offers Husker fans Selection Sunday excitement

Amy Williams and her Nebraska women’s basketball team are considered a pretty easy bet to get an at-large seed on Selection Sunday.

While Fred Hoiberg and his squad aren’t in the running for the NCAA Tournament anymore, Amy Williams and her Nebraska women’s basketball team is still very much looking to go dancing. And that means that Selection Sunday can still offer plenty of fun for Husker fans later today.

The 2024-25 season didn’t go exactly as planned for the Huskers, but they played well enough that Britt Prince and company are included on almost every bracketology report headed into Sunday. On the other hand, there’s still going to be a bit of drama as NU isn’t considered a very high seed. In fact, they’re usually just scraping in by the seat of their pants.

The Nebraska women’s basketball team is likely looking at a Selection Sunday that will see them get in either as a 9 or 10 seed. And considering the men’s team is staring a CBC bid in the fact as their only chance at a postseason, the program will almost certainly see the Big Dance as a big prize.

When looking at USA Today, not only did the Huskers make the publication’s tournament projections as a No. 10 seed but also has two other Big Ten teams (Indiana and Oregon) on the 10 seed line.

NCAA.com also has NU as a 10-seed as one of a whopping 12 Big Ten teams to make the Big Dance. Like USA Today, this site also has Oregon as another 10-seed, though George Mason and Columbia are the other teams on this seed line.

ESPN has the Huskers making it in as a No. 10 seed as well, and lists them as one of the “Last Four Byes.” The publication has Nebraska going to the South Bend regional and taking on Oklahoma State.

Finally, CBS has the Nebraska women’s basketball team as a 9-seed, alongside Georgia Tech, Indiana and Oregon.
